CROMLECH

5.10.2021

Permanent instalation

“Cromlech indicates the use of natural elements, stone and earth, as an expressive medium and constituent element of the work of art, with references to Land Art.

The piece is understood as natural of this place of experimentation, based on its concept on prehistoric forms of ritualistic character, with emphasis on the circular geometric form, the most absolute form.

The circles are formed by slabs of schist. The larger and the smaller circle are concentric and the other circle is diverted, creating an illusion of perspective. In the inner circles the Fibonacci series is used.

To place Cromlech in the Alqueva landscape is evoking other similar and in parallel, as if it was an archaeological site in a contemporary approach”, the artist JOH – Jorge Humberto, said.

Cromlech is part of the Festival ARCHI'Nature 2021, which takes place in France, Italy, Greece and Portugal. Cromlech is near by the Centro Nautico de Monsaraz, Portugal (GPS : 38.435, -7.35083).
